This week, the planetary narrative hints at the upcoming shift from information overload to the sense of empowerment that comes from realizing you've got what you need to start building something.
On Wednesday, Aries Venus sextiles Gemini Jupiter. I both adore this aspect and watch it unfold with a raised eyebrow, and here's why: Venus and Jupiter are traditionally known as the "benefic" planets in astrology, meaning that they're typically associated with good vibes. Jupiter embodies expansion, abundance, generosity; Venus embodies beauty, connection, grace. There's a lot of variation, though, with how these planets can express themselves, depending upon where they are and how they're connected with other planets and points. This is true for your birth chart and for the chart of the moment—as well as for the way the two interact. So while a Venus sextile Jupiter aspect is easily interpreted as Yes Yay Good Times Love Notes Flowing Traffic, it's not a bad idea to get a lil nuanced about it.
In this case, Venus is in Aries, where it rocks a truly impressive resting bitch face and isn't as concerned with padding its messages with smiley faces and exclamation points, even if it's giving you a compliment. And Jupiter is in Gemini, which really loves to Find Out, regardless of the degree to which such Finding Out requires Fucking Around. And! These planets are sextiling each other at the very final degree of their respective signs. That's a special place. Planets in the 29th degree of a sign have been shopping for a while and are just about to head to the checkout line when the loudspeaker suddenly cuts through the Muzak and an exhausted floor manager announces a Going Out Of Business Sale But Hurry We Close In 20 Minutes, and then said planets are like HOLY SHIT and start throwing more stuff in their carts, and then they bring it all home and you help unload the shopping bags and you're like DUDE WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH ALL THIS SORBET, NOW I NEED TO BUY A FUCKING CHEST FREEZER, and they're not even sorry.
Like, Aries Venus sextile Gemini Jupiter is why I can't shut up about Aries Venus sextile Gemini Jupiter.
My point is, it's typically a lovely aspect! Yay! And also (cue refrain), stay curious!
We're probably feeling it already, though the aspect is exact on Wednesday evening PST.
On Thursday night, Venus moves into Taurus, where its classically benefic qualities can really shine. Venus in the fixed earth sign of Taurus is all about beauty—like, literally aesthetics, and also that nice warm feeling of security when you have your shit together (relatively speaking). This is exciting because anything Taurus Venus connects with gets a little glow up, and Venus will be here until July 4th. A whole month to play fairy godmother!
Mercury is super busy from Thursday to Sunday. Here's the lineup: on Thursday, Mercury sextiles Mars, and then squares the lunar nodes a couple hours later. On Friday, Mercury sextiles Chiron. On Sunday, Mercury conjoins Jupiter (there's that 29th degree action again!) and then moves into Cancer.
And like, I could look at each of these aspects in isolation, like I did with the Venus sextile Jupiter situation, but a) this blog series is all about me finding my astro voice & I wanna try out some gestalt-ass delineation shit, and b) the horse smells the barn let's fucking wrap this up.
This Thursday through Sunday, the planet Mercury—the quick-witted flight-footed joker smoker midnight toker—is donning oven mitts, welder's goggles, and a T-shirt that says TRUST THE PROCESS in big cartoony block letters. Mercury flings open the passenger door of its indestructible forest green '89 Volvo station wagon and yells "Get in, loser!" with a cheeky wink. The backseat is full of shit that Mercury's been meaning to drop off at the local independent thrift store for months. Your seat belt, glowing with protective spells in like seventeen different orthographies, releases a purple puff of cassia-scented air as you click it into place. Mercury takes the wheel, hits the gas, turns on the radio, and then—
You may find yourself itching for a shotgun chat. You may find yourself recognizing that a dialectic's greatest usefulness lies is in its ability to make us wonder if there is, in fact, a third option. You may find yourself some new language for an old wound or pattern. You may find yourself wondering how you could ever possibly wrap your mind around the multiple multiplicities of truths that exist within and around and because of you, and then before you can even ask yourself "how did I get here" you'll slam headlong into the chorus and the days will go by and the water will hold you down.
We’re really going somewhere now, so you might as well sing along.
Holy Moly! What a ride! Sheesh! Next time I’m bringing more and better snacks!
