I am not an 'everything happens for a reason' bitch (gender neutral), or even a 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' bitch. But I work to make room for curiosity about whether that which fucketh me up can, rather than break me, prepare me—and not just for the other shoe dropping, or for the next season of hardship, but for steadfastly wrasslin with any internalized shadows that would challenge my self-trust and have me doubting my worth and unconditional wholeness.
Like, what if that which fucks me up also prepares me to make room for and/or tolerate more presence, more life.
Hell, more joy.
Maybe that's a spicy take—but if there's anything that the astrology of 2025 is good for, it's increasing our spice tolerance.
That whole 'working to make room for curiosity' bit, though? That's kind of what the astrology of this week is all about.
This week, the sun, Mercury, and Saturn all change signs. On Tuesday, the sun moves into Gemini. On Saturday, Saturn moves into Aries. And on Sunday, Mercury ingresses into Gemini. That's a lot of motion from earth and water to fire and air. We've had some recent practice with heat—my god, March of this year had such a heavy emphasis on "add habanero first and then test it for spice" Aries—but I adore the gravitational pull towards curiosity portended by the sun and Mercury popping into Gemini.
I think it's a great context within which to begin our 3-year Saturn in Aries transit, a time that might find us feeling itchy for action and change and progress but with no access to our usual shortcuts. Saturn is said to be "in its fall" in Aries, meaning it's as far as it can be from the sign it most resonates with (aka the sign of its exaltation—Libra, in this case). Saturn in Aries is asked to function in ways that don't come naturally to it. Saturn wants to print out the recipe and read it all the way through twice before lighting the grill. Aries wants to set the recipe on fire and use it to start the coals. There's an inherent tension here; a planet has to get creative to express itself when it's moving through the sign of its fall. Saturn in Aries is a controlled burn, a deliberate build. Saturn in Aries requires attention.
And curiosity is attention lube.
Curiosity can coexist with grief, with pain, with rest. Curiosity is not a spiritual bypass, but a route to awe and a path out of hell. And perhaps the only thing that our dear mutable air bby Gemini is solid on is curiosity.1
This week, get curious about curiosity and the wisdom it's activating within you. How do you experience the interplay between curiosity and attention?
Also, we have Venus in Aries trining Mars in Leo on Thursday, as a treat. Go go gadget: PASSION! For the love of god, indulge in something (but not just anything).
And hey, with all these sign changes come some interesting aspects to Pluto (still hanging out just past the threshold of Aquarius) and Neptune (freshly ingressed into Aries). Watch for another post about that in the coming week!
Spoken with love—and a Gemini moon & ascendant!
